What are Risky emails?

“Risky” email addresses are those that have low quality or low deliverability. They may exist but are currently facing technical issues that show very low engagement in that mailbox. We classify them as “risky” because they may cause quality issues for your campaigns.

Should I send emails to addresses marked as “Risky”?

Although this category may include emails that are technically still deliverable, we recommend you use caution when emailing any address marked as “Risky” as it may be an Accept All, a Disposable, or a Role address. If you are unfamiliar with any of these terms, read on.

Accept-All: Addresses that will initially accept mail for any address, but may not reach an actual inbox. This can also cause a bounce (a failed delivery notification, which gets returned to the sender).
Disposable: Created often by users who do not wish to give their primary address. These are defined as “Risky” because they are temporary and will only be valid for a short period of time.
Role: These generally define a responsibility rather than a person (i.e. support@ or info@) and often are managed by several people. These emails are often associated with more bounces, more unsubscribes, and decreased engagement rates.

Every list is different, and every company’s threshold for emailing addresses that cannot be specifically defined as “Deliverable” is different.

Understanding Apple Private Email Relay Service addresses (@privaterelay.appleid.com)

Email addresses generated by the Apple Private Email Relay Service (for example, kwuvmn2aoi@privaterelay.appleid.com) are special email addresses generated by Apple to hide the user's real email address for privacy. Here's some useful information about these addresses.

Emailable will return a state of Undeliverable for these addresses because the sender's address must be at a domain authorized by the developer. If you collected these emails from an app you control, you should not verify these emails with Emailable. If you did not, you should not have these emails, and you should not send to them. Any emails sent to these addresses from senders that aren't explicitly authorized to send to them will be rejected.
They end in @privaterelay.appleid.com or @icloud.com.
They route emails to one of the Apple ID’s verified email addresses.
They’re the same for a user across all apps written by a single development team, and different for the same user across apps written by different development teams.

Connecting to HubSpot

After signing in to your Emailable account, click the "Get Started" button, or the "+ New List" if you have already verified a list with us. A new modal will appear requesting you select a list source.

Click the HubSpot option to sign into your HubSpot account and grant permission to Emailable.

Verifying a HubSpot List

Once access has been granted, you'll be prompted on your Emailable dashboard to select a list from your existing HubSpot Contacts.

After importing the list, click "Begin Verification" and watch your list verify in real time. Once verification is complete, click "View Results" to view and analyze the health of your HubSpot data.

In the results page, you'll find the Export tab at the top of the dashboard. A new modal will appear showing the option of including/excluding specific verification categories and filters in your export. After making your selection, click "Send To HubSpot."

Verifying a list of emails will return results on the email addresses, each email address is given a state that represents the overall quality and deliverability of the email.

There are 5 states that can result from the verification process.

Below is a breakdown of these states (Deliverable, Undeliverable, Risky, Unknown, and Duplicate) and a list of the possible reasons for these results.

**Deliverable **- We can determine with a high level of confidence that the email address is associated with a valid account.

Possible reasons for **Deliverable **emails:

Accepted Email: The email address exists and is deliverable.

Undeliverable - We can determine with a high level of confidence that the email address is not associated with a valid account.

Possible reasons for **Undeliverable **emails:

Invalid Email: The email address does not pass syntax validations.
Invalid Domain: The email address domain does not exist, is not valid, or should not be mailed to.
Rejected Email: The email address was rejected by the mail server because it does not exist.
Invalid SMTP: The mail server returned an unexpected or invalid response.

Risky - Emails seem to be deliverable but should be used with caution due to low quality or deliverability.

API Migration from TheChecker

|| This information is specifically for users migrating from TheChecker API. Please review the following breaking changes listed below when migrating from TheChecker to Emailable. Our API will remain mostly the same and likely will require minimal or no changes for a majority of our users. All endpoints will remain the same unless otherwise stated below. There are no plans to deprecate this API at anytime in the future beyond the changes already listed here.

Additionally, usage of TheChecker API endpoints will only work when using API Keys migrated from TheChecker. Emailable API Keys will not work.
